Our Purpose

History

The York Community Foundation was established and incorporated in 1984 with initial assets of $5,000.  Founding members of the Board of Directors were: Robert V. Jones, C.G. “Kelly” Holthus, Bradley E. Barrows, A.C. “Jack” Holmquist and Donald N. Witte. The Foundation received 501(c) (3) tax exempt status in 1985, and currently has assets valued at over $6 million. The Foundation has awarded over $3 million in grants for projects and programs in the York community and surrounding area. In addition, the Foundation has awarded over $2 million in scholarships.

The mission of the York Community Foundation is to utilize charitable funds to strengthen and improve the community for the benefit of all its citizens.
